Between 6.30pm & 8.00am, Weekends and Bank Holidays, telephone the NHS 111 service for emergencies only.

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call 111 to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.


Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

For Minor Injuries such as grazes, scratches, cuts which may require stitching, sprains, bites, stings minor burns, minor infections(including eyes) and minor head injuries (WHERE CONSCIOUSNESS HAS NOT BEEN LOST) - Please use Minor Injuries Unit at Clacton Hospital, Tower Road, Clacton on Sea.

Use the Walk in Centre, at the Primary Care Centre, Turner Road, Colchesterfor cuts and grazes which DO NOT need stitching, sprains and strains which DO NOTneed X/ray, minor infections (including eyes), minor head injuries (WHERE CONSCIOUSNESS HAS NOT BEEN LOST), Blood tests, Minor Illness such as Stomach ache, Vomitting and Diarrhoea, Smoking Cessation.

ONLY USE Accident and Emergency (Casualty) at Colchester General Hospital, Turner Road, Colchester  for Chest pains, shortness of breath, blacking out (WITH LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS) any MAJOR injury to a limb or other part of body, a major accident or anything you may think might be life threatening.

Call 999 in an emergency.  Chest pains, loss of consciousness and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
